The Good News!

The Gospel sets Christianity apart from every other religion in the world. It is the good news that God has provided a way through His Son, Jesus, to be forgiven and have our broken relationship with God restored.

Everyone has sinned.

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

According to this verse, everyone has sinned. We have all done something to break God’s law. Whether it’s something we’ve done, said, or thought, everyone has sinned.

Sin has a penalty.

“The wages of sin is death...” (Romans 6:23a)

When a person is hired and completes a job, they receive their wages. When we break God’s law, we receive our wages – death. If we were to truly pay the price for our sin, we would all spend an eternity in Hell.

Jesus paid the penalty.

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Jesus loves you. The Bible tells us that “. . . God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) He doesn’t want us to die and go to hell. He wants to save us, have a relationship with us, give us a fulfilling life, and live with us forever in Heaven.

So Jesus came to Earth, lived a perfect life, went to the cross, and died for our sins. He was buried, and after three days in the grave He rose again, proving His power over death, sin, and Satan. The wages of sin is death, and someone has to die. Jesus died in our place, and paid our wages for us.

Will you accept His gift?

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

We never have to pay for a gift. If we do, it is no longer a gift. The Bible says that God is giving us the gift of eternal life. We could never be good enough to deserve it, purchase it, or work for it. If we do, it ceases to be a gift from God and becomes something we’ve earned.

We really only have two choices. We can pay for our sins by dying and going to Hell, or we can accept God’s gift and go to Heaven with Him when we die.

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

Being saved implies that you were saved from something. If you were in a burning building and a fireman rescued you, you would save the fireman saved you. When you ask Jesus to save you from your sin and accept His free gift of eternal life in Heaven, He saves you from sin and the penalty of death in Hell.
Will you accept the free gift Jesus offers you? Will you trust Him and Him alone to give you eternal life in Heaven and forgive your sins? If you will, you can tell Him today. Simply acknowledge that you’re a sinner and you need Him to save you. Tell Him you believe that He is the only way heaven, that you believe He died and rose again for you, that you trust Him to take you to heaven when you die, and you are willing to leave your sinful lifestyle behind to follow Him.

While these words aren’t magic, and they can’t give you eternal life, you could pray something like this:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I don’t deserve to go to Heaven. I believe that You died and rose again and that You can take me to Heaven when I die. Please forgive me for my sins and come into my heart and life. I want to live my life to please You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

John 6:37 “...Him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out.”

If you ask Jesus Christ to save you, He promises to let you into Heaven when you die. He also promises that under no circumstance (“in no wise”) will He cast you out.

If you have just done this, would you let us know? We would love to share materials with you to help you grow in your faith.
